“At 79, Björn Ulvaeus FINALLY Reveals The Dark Side of ABBA”:

At 79, Björn Ulvaeus has finally spoken openly about the hidden struggles behind ABBA’s glittering success. While the group was seen as a flawless pop machine after their 1974 Eurovision win, Björn revealed the darker reality: crushing pressure, strict image control, and emotional isolation. Management forced them to smile even when exhausted, and the band endured endless rehearsals, tours, and media attention that left them burned out.

Personal relationships also suffered. Björn admitted that fame and constant scrutiny played a major role in his painful divorce from Agnetha Fältskog, which left both of them devastated even as they were forced to keep performing love songs together. Later, Benny and Frida’s breakup deepened the strain, making the group feel more like strangers than a family.

Björn also revealed battles with mental health that were hidden at the time. Agnetha suffered severe anxiety, especially from flying and being away from her children, while Björn himself fell into depression after the band’s peak, struggling with an identity crisis when ABBA ended. He admitted, “We had fans everywhere, but no one really saw us.”

Adding to the turmoil, ABBA faced financial betrayal. They lost millions through bad investments and untrustworthy advisers, leaving the group emotionally and financially scarred.

Despite these struggles, ABBA’s music lived on. Björn recalled fearing in the 1990s that the band would be forgotten, but younger generations rediscovered their songs, leading to the musical Mamma Mia! and, eventually, ABBA’s emotional reunion with the 2021 album Voyage. For Björn, that comeback wasn’t just about music—it was about healing old wounds and finally telling the truth.

In his words: “We weren’t legends. We were human. We made mistakes. But we tried our best—and we survived.”
