The sad romances Agnetha Fältskog experienced after ABBA

After her first marriage with Björn ended, it took nearly ten years for Agnetha to remarry—this time to a surgeon. However, the public only learned about this secret marriage when she filed for divorce.

Perhaps the strangest chapter in Agnetha’s life was her brief romance with an obsessive fan. The man, a Dutch truck driver, had been showing up near her home repeatedly over the course of two years.

At first, Agnetha reported him to the police, hoping they would intervene and stop his behavior. But in a surprising twist, by 1997, she and the man had developed a romantic relationship.

Speaking about the unusual connection, Agnetha once said: “It was his overwhelming attention over such a long period that made me feel I couldn’t resist my own curiosity anymore—I wanted to know who he really was.”

However, the relationship didn’t last. After two years together, they broke up in 2000. Agnetha later filed a legal restraining order against him, demanding that he permanently stay away from her.

The man was eventually deported from Sweden but continued trying to return. In April 2006, he was arrested just a few meters from Agnetha’s home.

Since ABBA’s breakup, Agnetha has led a rather quiet and private life, intentionally staying away from the spotlight and avoiding media attention.

Agnetha Fältskog’s Current Life: At Peace with the Past, Calm Once Again

Now 71 years old, Agnetha lives on a large farm in the Swedish countryside with her eldest daughter’s family. She says that her joy in life these days is very simple—just a glass of wine, her dogs, and the sound of the sea (her farm is located on an island) are enough to make her feel content and at peace.

In a 2013 interview, Agnetha shared:
“I don’t enjoy appearing in magazines or on TV shows anymore. Many people think it’s a kind of attitude, as if I’m trying to create some mystery. But honestly, I just don’t want any of that now. I’ve had enough of it. I just want to be left alone.”

“I have a privilege: I can enjoy each day as it comes. I go running with my dogs—they bring so much love and companionship to people. They’re absolutely loyal, and when you’re with them, you don’t have to pretend to be anything. They know everything—when you’re sick or sad—and all it takes is a look, and they’ll come to comfort you.”

Agnetha Fältskog’s current life is one of warmth and peace, with a touch of solitude—completely different from the life of an international music star that she once lived.
